What changes
The work is the same. Where you do it moves from a row of tabs to one conversation.
Before
- Copy the draft from your notes into the editor
- Fix the formatting that broke on the way
- Hunt for the right category and tags
- Put off updating old posts
After
- Write in the chat and publish from there
- Claude picks your existing categories and tags
- Ask for a draft when you want to check it first
- Old posts get updated by asking
Things you can ask
Copy one into Claude once the server is connected.
- Publish the post we just wrote under Guides.
- Which posts haven't been updated in two years?
- Update the prices in Our coffee subscriptions.
- Save this as a draft so I can check it first.
- List my drafts, oldest first.
- Which tags have I used only once?
Set it up
Works with any WordPress site you can sign in to. You need an application password for your user.
Skip the setup: import the ready-made server
- Download the file.
- In GetMCP, open Servers, click Import and choose the file.
- Add your site's domain and an application password: keys go in the server's Authentication tab, anything else in its connection variables.
- Switch on the Gateway and connect Claude to it. To connect to the server's own address instead, create an access key for it first.
Or build it yourself:
-
Create a server and install the WordPress template
Set your site's domain once. The template adds 17 tools for posts, pages, categories, tags, media and users.
-
Add an application password
In WordPress, open your profile, create an application password and add it to the server.
-
Switch off what you don't need
For example delete_post, create_user and the page tools, if Claude only writes posts.
-
Turn on the Gateway and connect Claude
Switch on the Gateway in GetMCP, then add your Gateway address to Claude, ChatGPT or Manus as a custom connector and sign in.

Questions about this setup
Can Claude publish without me checking?
Only if you ask it to. Ask for a draft and the post waits in WordPress until you publish it.
Can it upload images?
This template lists the files already in your media library; it doesn't upload new ones. Upload images in WordPress first.
Does it work on any WordPress host?
Yes, as long as the REST API and application passwords are switched on, which they are by default.
